On the morning of June 25, 2024, the T53 tiger was released into the East Pench range of the Pench Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra after receiving treatment at the Gorewada Rescue Centre.
On May 17, 2024, upon receiving information about an injured tiger at compartment no. 509 of Khursapar beat in the Deolapar range, the Range Forest Officer (RFO) of East Pench, Vivek Rajurkar, and veterinarian Dr. Nikhil Bangar visited the location.
Upon arrival, they observed that the tiger was severely injured and required immediate treatment. The tiger was captured using chemical immobilization and transported to the Gorewada Rescue Centre in Nagpur for further treatment and recovery.
As of today, the T53 tiger has fully recovered and is fit to be released back into its natural habitat, according to the report provided by the veterinarians. The release site is near the capture site. The release was monitored by Deputy Director Dr. Prabhu Nath Shukla of the Pench Tiger Reserve, Nagpur, along with Ms. Pooja Limbgaonkar, Assistant Conservator of Forests, Anti-Poaching Unit, Pench Tiger Reserve; Vivek Rajurkar, Forest Range Officer, East Pench, Piparia; Abhijit Ilamkar, Range Forest Officer, Deolapar; and veterinarian Nikhil Bangar.
