While grazing his goats in compartment No. 752 of the Chichpalli Forest Range, Mul subdivision, Muneem Ratiram Golawar, a 41-year-old goat herder from Chichala in the Mul taluka, was attacked and killed by a tiger yesterday.
Yesterday evening, we learned about the incident late at night. Mr. Prashant Khade, Divisional Forest Officer of Chandrapur, and Priyanka Velme, Forest Range Officer of Chichpalli, ordered a search operation for this morning as the goat herder had not returned home. The body was found in the forest by the search team, which included Mul Field Assistant Maske, members of the Sanjeevan Environmental Society (Prashant Mutyarpawar, Dinesh Khewale, Ankush Wani, Ritesh Pizdurkar, Pratik Lengure, and Haushik Manger), and Forest Guards Sudhir Thakur, Pawan Yesambare, Shital Chaudhary, and Shubhangi Gurnule. During an on-site inspection by the police and Forest Department, the body was sent to the sub-district hospital for a post-mortem. Forest Range Officer Priyanka R. Velme immediately provided ₹50,000 in relief to the deceased’s wife. P.W. Padwe, Field Assistant Kelzar, P.D. Khanke, Field Assistant Mahadwadi, Mul Forest Guard R.J. Gurnule, Janala, and several relatives of the deceased were present, along with Umesh Singh Zhire from the Sanjeevan Environmental Society.It is noteworthy that on August 10th, a tiger had killed 60-year-old Kelzar shepherd Ganpat Lakshman Marathe while he was grazing his animals in compartment No. 431 of the Chichpalli Forest Range, Kelzar subdivision. This incident is similar to the one that occurred here.
