Moharli (Mohammad Suleman Baig) :
In the buffer zone of the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, between Sitarampeth and Kondegaon, a tigress known as C3, along with her cubs, hunted an adult gaur (wild Indian bison) on the evening of January 13, 2025. Following this incident, wildlife activity in the area has increased. To prevent crowds from gathering to spot the tiger, the Forest Department has implemented special security and control measures over the past three days.
Forest Department’s Vigilant Plan:
In the Moharli buffer area, Forest Range Assistant S. Jumde, Forest Guards Mangam and Janbandhu, along with driver Sainath Kalam, are patrolling the area during the morning and evening. Additionally, a PRT (Patrolling Rapid Team) has been deployed in Mudholi, Kondegaon, and Sitarampeth. The team conducts regular patrols from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM to monitor the situation and control vehicular traffic near the site.
Moreover, trap cameras have been installed in the area to monitor vehicular movements during the night. Any unauthorized activity will lead to immediate action.
Guidelines for Local Residents:
The Forest Department has urged local residents and tourists to avoid visiting the site. While the tiger’s hunt is a natural behavior, it is crucial to take necessary precautions to prevent human-wildlife conflict.
Appeal from Moharli Range Officer Santosh Thipe:
- Avoid unnecessary gatherings near the site.
- Do not interfere with the natural activities of wildlife.
- Stay alert and cooperate with the Forest Department.
- Take additional precautions to protect domestic animals from potential wildlife attacks.
A temporary ban has also been placed on nighttime driving in the area to ensure safety and minimize disturbances.
This incident highlights the sensitivity of tiger habitats. The proactive efforts of the Forest Department will help mitigate human-wildlife conflicts and maintain a balance between the two.
