On Tuesday evening, an elderly tigress was found dead in the jungle near Payli-Bhatli village in the Chandrapur forest. Forest officials suspect that the deceased tigress might be the popular tigress named Sharmili from the buffer zone of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve.
According to official sources, forest officials of Chandrapur Range had been monitoring the activities of a female tigress near the villages of Payli-Bhatli forest area for the past few days. The monitoring team discovered the dead body of the female tigress on Tuesday in Compartment No. 881, near the village. Upon receiving the information, RFO Rahul Karekar arrived at the scene and after conducting an initial investigation, the body was taken to the transit treatment center in Chandrapur.
