Bird Week in Tadoba is a wonderful celebration of the diverse birdlife in the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra, India. People engage in bird-watching tours and activities to observe and appreciate the wide variety of birds in the area. It’s a great opportunity to connect with nature and learn more about the fascinating world of birds.
Birds worldwide are facing rapid declines in their diversity, with many species becoming vulnerable. It’s crucial to raise comprehensive public awareness so that the importance of state-level bird conservation reaches every citizen. This is necessary to make people aware of their responsibility for bird conservation.
In the field of bird conservation and research in India, Dr. Salim Ali and Mr. Maruti Chitampalli have made significant contributions to bird research and wildlife literature. Bird enthusiasts often use Dr. Salim Ali’s book, “The Birds of Indian Birds,” as a reference for birdwatching.
During Bird Week in the Moharli Gate area of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, tourist guides and experts form four groups to explore different bird trails near the Moharli Dam and observe 75 species of birds in Moharli. Recently, the presence of the Eurasian Hobby (Falco subbuteo) in Moharli was a remarkable observation. This bird of prey is primarily found in Europe and Asia, so its presence in Tadoba is potentially indicative of a rare or migratory sighting.
Participants in these activities include Moharli Tourist Guides, Sumeth Waghmare (Birdman), Anish Patil (Naturalist at Tathastu Resort), Ajay Poddar (Wildlife Conservationist), Mohammad Suleman Baig (Bird Enthusiast), Shubham Atram (Research Scholar), Pranay Khangar (Zoologist), Ahatesham (Tathastu Resort), and Moharli Forest Guards S.D. Marskole, Ku. S.A. Mahajan, and Tourism Manager Aarif Pathan. They all participate in bird trails to promote bird conservation.
